Front Porch: Show us yours?

DSC01636

This is not my house. This is not my porch. I wish it were. I would love for this to be my house, but alas it is not. This is a house I saw while in the darling area of Germantown, near Nashville. I have a small patio off the back of my condo, but my heart longs for a porch like this one. This porch…is perfect.

I’m thinking about doing a weekly Saturday feature here on Southern Belle Simple called “Front Porch.” I would love for folks to send me pictures of their porches (either decorated for the season or just as they are) and I can share them each week. I thought about doing a linky, but this way anyone with a porch can send in a picture even if he/she doesn’t have a blog. I’ll also periodically share lovely porches that I’ve run across.

A person’s porch is kind of his or her jumping off point for the world and I thought it would be neat if we could share a little glimpse of our worlds with each other. Does this sound like something you’d be interested in participating in?

  1. I definitely would participate! one of the reasons we bought our house was because of the front porch.

Although, I am thinking I need to step up the decor a bit now. LOL

  2. Most of my daughters friends lived in Germantown when we lived in Memphis, and let me tell you, if there's one thing I miss about the South~if not America in general~it's the porches and patios. I'm a New Orleans girl and lived in the patios of our home growing up. Thank you for such a simple reminder of home. It was both lovely and sweet.

    Warmly,

    Elizabeth

  5. I love front porches but I will have to enjoy them through your blog. Front porches are as big a deal in Canada as they are in the US ... must be the weather.
    Can't wait to see more.

  7. Right now I am ashamed to say my porch is naked as a Jay bird! It might be right in style, though, with all the spiders and cobwebs on it. You just might motivate me to spiff it up a bit. The picture you took in Nashville IS BEAUTIFUL. sigh.... all in good time. I will settle for carved pumpkins out there in the next seven days and go from there!

  8. I have to say I LOVE porches so these pictures are certainly eye candy. I live in a small rented Victorian home that has a porch, but no view, the owners built a building about 5 ft. in front of the porch. So it's empty and ignored, but I live in a neighborhood that has tons of lovely porches. Can I send you a pic of a porch I lust after?

  10. I love the "front porch" idea and I LOVE this particular front porch. I won't be ready to take a picture this week, but I'll be moving to a new house with my own front porch in a couple of weeks. Woohoo
