My Absence
I don't usually share sad things on this blog, but since I feel like you loyal readers are truly friends, I wanted to let you know that the reason for my absence these last few days is that my dearly beloved great-grandfather passed away and I've been with family, receiving visitors and attending his funeral services. He was 96 years old and was ready to go home. We lost his dear wife (my great-grandmother) seven years ago and I know he had been looking forward to being reunited with her. I was fortunate to speak at his funeral and I might share that here in a few days. Thank you for your friendship, your sweet comments and your presence here. You are loved.

ReplyDeleteKate, I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. We are never ready to give our loved ones up, but how wonderful that he lived such a long life and you had the great fortune of having him for so long! It would have been nice to have known my greats. Again, please accept my sympathies. You and your family are in my thoughts this evening.

ReplyDeleteMy thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. I recently lost my father in law and though its very hard to watch these people leave is, it is comforting to know they are home and watching over us. xx
ReplyDeleteKate, I was wondering where you were & clicked on yesterday after wondering why you had not popped up in my reader in a while. I'm very sorry to hear the sad news. Coincidentally, on Sunday, I attend the unveiling of my great-grandfather's marker...he passed away last year at 105. I love that his tombstone is a double one, shared with my great-grandmother and it reads, "together again". If we can only be as lucky to live as long as they did! People would ask him what the secret was to getting to 105 and he would say, "first, you have to make it to 104". I'm sure you have lots of great memories to hold onto...thinking of you. Warmly, Tiffany

ReplyDeleteKate, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. It's never easy. Keep the memories in your heart and he will always be with you.
ReplyDeleteBless your heart! At his age, I am sure you celebrated his great life, but I know there is a loneliness that will always be there now. The good news is that there is a special place in all our hearts for our grandparents; it is right up front where we can see and hear them whenever we need to.
ReplyDeleteHugs to you!
