Through the grapevine

 DSC00624
This is an arrangement that I put together last night. (The fancy camera trick of making everything look fuzzy is to camouflage my cluttered kitchen, but you probably got that). I was inspired by the idea below, from last month's Southern Living Magazine.

I thought it would be fun to make an arrangement in a bowl so I pulled out my trifle bowl and got to work. I'm pretty happy with how my tulips turned out...even though my grapevine twigs didn't quite cooperate as nicely as the one's in the SL photo.

  2. Those beautiful women you see in magazines are held together with tape too you know! They're just better at hiding it.

  3. This made me laugh mainly because I can picture myself commanding grapevine to obey me as night turns to morning. I must hand it to you, you sure know how to make a beautiful arrangement! I am, however, challenges by your ordeal. My mind can't stop thinking of how to make the grapevine bend properly. Did you try soaking them for a day, bend them where you want them, tape them down, allow to dry out (maybe another day?) and then put the water and tulips in? I say this because I heard this is how people get wood to bend and take a certain shape. just a thought :)

  4. thanks for the kind words ladies...and brooke, i forgot to mention one key ingredient that i lack is patience...had those sticks been able to soak for a longer amount of time like you suggested, i'm sure it would have been much better! i thought they were fully submerged for about two hours but the water slowly drained out of the bathtub during Glee.
